LINGAYEN — Jireh A. Ceralde, a Pangasinense, outperformed 20 other participants during the debut of the country-wide bible quiz bee national finals to emerge as the quiz champion.
The first-ever Philippine Bible Quiz Bee, hosted and sponsored by the provincial government, gathered finalists across the country held at the Sison Auditorium on January 15.
Ceralde, a student of Turac National High School in San Carlos City, rose to the top in the high school division after answering tough questions correctly, covering first five chapters of the old and new testaments in the Holy Bible, strategically divided into three levels: easy, average and difficult.
Mikaela M. Ramirez, a student of Olongapo Western School placed second place.
Christian Francisco, a student of Urdaneta National High School, placed third.
In the elementary division, the winners were: Andrea Allen I. Allegre (Biga Achievers Learning Institure) – 1st place; Hanz Efren Abantao (Pasig Christian Academy) – 2nd place; Lei Judiel M. Lucas (St. John the Baptist Catholic School) – 3rd place; and Nathaniel Desierto (Baguio Pines Family Learning Center) – 4th place.
Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba commended the participants and their young minds for such devotion to read and study the bible.
He encouraged the youth to continue embracing the lessons inculcated in every bible story and hence, take part in evangelizing the nation.
Pastor Myra S. Jalique, national coordinator of Philippine Bible Quiz (PBQ), thanked Gov. Amado Espino III for his full support and encouragement to ensure the successful staging of the Bible Quiz finals.
Jalique said the staging of the national quiz bee is in line with the celebration of the National Bible Month every January as decreed by the past presidents of the country and in 2017 by Pres. Rodrigo R. Duterte through Presidential Proclamation No. 124. (PIO/SMDG)
