OWWA provides calamity assistance to Dagupeño OFW families

SOME 400 families of Dagupeño Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) received calamity assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at CSI Stadia on January 24.

Under OWWA’s Welfare Assistance program, a total of P1-million worth of cash assistance were given to OFW families from 18 barangays that were directly affected during the onslaught of Typhoon “Ompong” last September.

Active OFW members received P3,000 while inactive members received  P1,500. Only one OFW per family is entitled for the program.

Counters were set up for the speedy processing and releasing of funds for the beneficiaries.

OWWA Regional Director Gerardo Rimorin said that Dagupan City, along with Lingayen, Calasiao and San Fabian, was among the main areas in Pangasinan affected during Typhoon ‘Ompong’. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
