Gun-for-hire leader’s driver shot dead

UMINGAN–The former driver and caretaker of the house and farm of an arrested female leader of a gun-for-hire group in Umingan, was gunned down while riding his motorcycle, by armed men riding in tandem along the provincial road in Barangay Bantug here on January 13.

The victim was identified as Juanito Molina, 44, of Barangay Abot Molina, Umingan, tagged as former driver of Loida Gonzales, leader of the busted Loida Gonzales gun-for-hire group responsible for many assassinations of politicians and killings of businessmen and others in eastern Pangasinan.

Gonzales is now serving her sentence for her illegal activities. She was arrested about five years ago.

Initial Investigation showed that while Molina was riding his motorcycle with his back rider identified as May Basa, 44, married, in Brgy. Pob., East Umingan, along the provincial road of the barangay, two men on board another motorcycle tailed him and suddenly shot him with the use of unknown type of handgun.

The unidentified suspects fled towards the south direction after the shooting. Molina died on the spot . (Leonardo Micua)
