THE 2019 National Festival of Talents (NFOT) will be held in Dagupan City on January 29 to February 9 to be hosted by the Department of Education Region 1 and the City Schools Division Dagupan.

The theme of the 12-day festival is “Celebrating Diversity through the Performance of Talents and Skills for Sustainable Inclusive Education.”

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez said the city is honored to host this important gathering as the festival “provides opportunities for Dagupan children to showcase their talents and in turn enhance their knowledge and skills in their respective fields of interest”.

She said the city government is working very hard to ensure that every child will have plenty of opportunities and avenues to enhance their gifts and skill sets.

The event will be held at CSI Stadia in Barangay Lucao, venue of the Regional Festival of Talents held in December last year.

This is why, she said, Dagupan City is privileged to be the event location of the 2019 NFOT which she considers as a remarkable activity that will not only mark another momentous occasion in our history, but also provide an opportunity to inspire Dagupeño children to further improve their talents and skills in different fields which will make them more competitive and more success-driven

On the other hand, Education Secretary Leonor Briones lauded the hosts of the event as this year’s NFOT shall not only showcase learners’ competencies on technical-vocational-livelihood education, music and arts, population development and Filipino and foreign languages, “but also celebrate our commitment and loyalty to our culture–diverse as it is–that unites our people and ensures inclusiveness.

“Filipino culture reflects not only what is beautiful and refined, but also what is real and inspiring. NFOT plays a crucial role in preserving and enriching this,” she said. (Leonardo Micua)
