THE Region 1 police seized six assorted loose firearms, 18 assorted magazines and 262 ammunition, one hand grenade and one smoke grenade in a region-wide operation from November 20 to 24.

P/ Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, region 1 director, said the serving of seven search warrants led not only to the confiscation of loose firearms and bullets but the arrest of seven persons too.

Arrested were one from Pangasinan, three from Ilocos Norte and three from Ilocos Sur.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 were already filed in court against the arrested suspects.

Sapitula said there will be no letup in the region’s campaign against loose firearms and daily implementation of search warrants.

The successful campaign reflects the strong commitment of the police to ensure peaceful celebration of yuletide season and in preparation for the upcoming national and local elections. (Leonardo Micua)
