DUE TO DENGVAXIA SCARE

THE Provincial Health Office has intensified its information and education drive on the importance of having vaccination amid reports of resistance of many parents to have their children vaccinated as a result of the Dengvaxia controversy.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, suspects that the 21 cases confirmed in laboratory tests as measles could be due to the refusal of parents to submit their young children to measles vaccination fearing that the vaccine can cause deaths similar to cases reported in media over the controversial Dengvaxia.

De Guzman said she had to order municipal health offices to employ the necessary intervention measures to prevent healthy children from being afflicted with measles, since measles is a very contagious disease. (Leonardo Micua)
