Outstanding healthcare service keyplayers in P’sinan recognized

Lingayen, Pangasinan – Governor Amado I. Espino, III led the officialdom of Pangasinan in recognizing anew the healthcare service keyplayers of the province.

“Salamat sa inyong sakripisyo, at pagod para saating mga kababayan,” Governor Espino told the healthcare executives of the province during the 8th Annual Health Summit & 2017 LGUScorecard Awarding Ceremony held on December 11 at the Sison Auditorium.

The provincial chief executive sought the allout support of the healthcare keyplayers in elevating further the healthcare development thrust of the province, as he asked them to take care of the human resource of public and private medical institutions in the province.

Receiving the top plum as top performing LocalGovernment Unit in Public Health Program Implementation for CY 2017 was LGU Alcala, followed by LGU Sual, and LGU Basista as first and second runners-up,respectively.

Third to 10th runners-up wereLGUs of Infanta, Anda, San Nicolas, Alaminos City, Dasol, San Jacinto, Mabini, and Bautista.

Remedios Estrada of Luna, Mabini was recognized as the Most Outstanding Provincial Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Runners-up were:Mary Grace Reyes (Sapa Pequena, Burgos), Mariyln Pertudo (Linmansangan, Mangatarem), Marissa Acracia (Poblacion, Mapandan), Eleonor Caras (Dolaoan, Anda), and Nerissa Caingal (Angatel, Urbiztondo).

The Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital (EPDH)topped the search for top performing Inter-Local Health Zone (ILHZ), followed by Western Pangasinan District Hospital, and Bayambang District Hospital.

Most Improved ILHZ was Urdaneta DistrictHospital, while Lingayen District Hospital was given a special recognition for its exceptional best practices on health.

Assisting Governor Espino during the awarding ceremony were: Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr., 4th DistrictBoard Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario who chairs the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Committee on Health, Provincial Health Officer II Anna Maria Teresa De Guzman,Provincial Health Officer I Cielo Almoite, and Dr. Jemuel Cardenas ofDepartment of Health (DOH) – Region 1.

Institutionalized by the provincial government,the LGU health scorecard is a tool to track the progress of health reform implementation in municipal and city LGUs of the province.

From the 20 indicators, which was adopted from2010-2016, the health scorecard since last year accommodated six more indicators, as per Memorandum No. 2017-0499 of the DOH.  

The healthcare partner institutions of the provincial government from the national government, and non-government organizations were also recognized.

The awarding ceremony was preceded by the provincial health summit, which delved on the following discussions: Roles ofHealth Workers on Suicide and Depression among Teenagers, Improving FinancialCapability through PhilHealth, and Updates on Massive Open Online Courses. /Mark Gerry Naval Oblanca
