UNKNOWN to the millennial generation in Dagupan City, the ruin by the road where the railway once existed was part of the era when the city started to be developed as a major trading area in the region.

That ruin, the old PNR (PhilippineNational Railway) Building is now being rehabilitated by the Jayceeken, a group of senior and retired Jaycee members.

The group held a project presentation for the planned rehabilitation of the old PNR (Philippine National Railway) building on Dec 18th in line with the city’s Cultural Heritage Program of Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Billed as Bagat Ed Estacio’y Tren, the project seeks to reaffirm the cultural and historic significance of the Ferrocarril de Manila-Dagupan to the city’s progress by opening the corridor of commerce and progress to the city.

The rehabilitation of the program is being held under the auspices of the Dagupan City 2018 Fiesta Committee, chaired by Councilor Jigs Seen who is concurrently the chairman of the city’s Committee on Arts and Culture and in cooperation with the Barangay Council of Mayombo under the leadership of Samuel Guadiz.

The Jayceeken is led by its founder-organizer Oscar Arcinue, Asterio Fernandez as president and Molly Reyes as over-all coordinator. (Rex Catubig)
