THE Dagupan City government here is working to further improve the streamlining of processes and ease of doing business through the three-step process of the city’s One Stop Business Center (OSBC).

This was revealed by OSBC chief Randolf Ubando during the 2018 annual dialogue with representatives of local accounting and bookkeeping agencies held on December 14.

The move is in line with RA 11032 or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Service Delivery Act of 2018” which aims to make the process of putting up and running a business easier and more efficient by promoting ease of doing business and efficient delivery of government services.

The dialogue detailed to the bookkeepers how the city plans to streamline its business permits application with the continued increase of new business registrations in the city.

The number of registered new businesses in Dagupan saw a 43% increase in 2017 with 607 registrations compared to 2016’s 423.

The city’s status as center of trade, commerce and education in Northern Luzon is further strengthened by the influx of major investors coming to do business in the city.

These include SM Supermall, Filinvest Land, Incorporated, the City Mall, Sta. Lucia Land Development for Almeria Verde and the coming of ACE Hospital, which will be put up in Barangay Lucao.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez assured the bookkeepers that with the Investment and Development Board in place, there will be no red tape and no corruption in the entire process of establishing businesses in the city.

“We make sure all processes are done with transparency. The taxes paid by our Dagupeño taxpayers must go directly to the city’s coffer. The city government works to pay it forward with numerous projects and programs for infrastructure, health, social services, livelihood,
education and many more. All these are made possible through your taxes,” added Fernandez.

The city government recorded the strongest state of financial history under Fernandez’s administration.

Dagupan City also received its third consecutive citation as region’s overall most competitive city during the 4th CMCI Recognition and Awarding ceremonies on December 12. The city also maintained its ranking as number one in government efficiency and in economic dynamism for the third year among other cities in the region.

The consultation with the bookkeepers is an annual activity aimed  to strengthen the coordination between the city government and the business sector. It also provides an opportunity for bookkeepers to share their concerns and suggestions on how to improve the process of business permit application and renewal. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
