City fiesta’s ‘Paseo de Belen’ draws bigger crowd

THE Paseo de Belen along the De Venecia Highway Extension Road has been attracting more visitors nightly since its formal opening on December 7.

Now on its third year as the main attraction of the Dagupan City Fiesta, the Paseo De Belen has become a favorite event among residents and visitors.

The carnival and fair beside the Paseo De Belen is also open.

The Paseo, a pet project of Mayor Fernandez, puts on display different creative  interpretations of the nativity scenes by the barangays.

All 31 barangays participating in the’ Search for the Best ‘Belen’ were given one month to prepare, with each nativity scene given a floor area of six meters by six meters for their creative tableaus.

Event Chair and Liga ng mga Barangay President Dean Bryan Kua thanked all the barangays for participating in the search for the best ‘belen’ competition.

“This is the product of all the hard work put in by our barangay chairmen, kagawads and volunteers.This just goes to show our unity. Hindi kami magsasawang gawin ito taon-taon para sa mga mahal nating Dagupeno,”  Kua said.

Each nativity scene entry will be judged according to durability and stability, craftsmanship,interpretation of the nativity scene and innovation of traditional ‘belen’ format.

First place winner will receive P50,000; second place, P30,000; and the third placer will receiveP20,000. Winners will be announced during the Barangay Night on December 27 at the city plaza. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
