3 arrested for selling firecrackers sans permit

CALASIAO — Three firecracker and pyrotechnic vendors were arrested by the police late afternoon on December 26  and slapped with the case of violation of Republic Act 7183 for selling their illegal items in Poblacion without a permit from the PNP Civil Security Group.

Joint elements of the Regional Civil Security Unit 1 and the Calasiao Police swooped down on the stalls of Kim Manuel of Barangay Lasip, Marina Ferrer of Barangay Gabon; and Jay Sanchez, of Barangay Lumbang and booked them.

Confiscated from them were 114 pieces of baby rocket called “kwitis”, 22 pieces of big fountain pyrotechnic, 10 pieces of small fountain, 38 packs big sparklers or “luses”, 28 boxes medium-size “luses”, 16 packs small “luses”, 18 packs medium-size triangle, six packs of small triangle, seven boxes of happy ball and two pieces crying cow. 

The confiscated items were all brought to the Calasiao Police Station for proper disposition.

On December 27, elements of the Calasiao Police led by P/Sr. Inspector Ramil Mendioro,  confiscated firecrackers sold by street vendors along the De Venecia Highway in Barangay  Banaoang, Calasiao.

Seized were; 22 pieces of “kwitis”, one big Fountain, 20 pieces of big “luses”, 10 pieces of  small “luses” and eight pieces of baby fireworks.

The vendors fled after sensing the arrival of the police.

The police were implementing Republic Act No. 7183 prohibiting the selling of firecrackers and pyrotechnics and without permits. (Leonardo Micua)
