SAN CARLOS CITY—It will be a three-cornered fight for mayor and two-cornered fight for vice mayor in Carlos City in the May 13, 2019 election.

This, as Mayor Joseres Resuello slid down to vice mayor in favor of his elder brother Julier Resuello, the incumbent vice mayor of the city.

The switching of places of the Resuellos is one of the biggest surprises in this coming election in San Carlos City.

Both Resuellos are running under the administration ticket PDP Laban.

Julier is pitted against Wilhelm Soriano, who is running for mayor under the Liberal Party, and Jonathan Lomboy running under the Nacionalista Party.

Wilhelm picked his brother Gallant as his runningmate while Lomboy has no candidate for mayor.

Resuello is fielding a complete ticket to the 10-man city council seats while Lomboy has eight candidates for councilor and Soriano, 6.

Atty. Dominique Ordonio, city elections officer of San Carlos, said that the city has a voting population of more than 103,000 based on the list of registration in the recent barangay election, considered as the second biggest city in terms of voting population in Region 1 after Dagupan City.

This excludes some 6,000 more voters who applied for registration from July 2 to September 28 this year which are still being validated by the city’s voters’ registration board, said Ordonio. (Leonardo Micua)
