LINGAYEN—P/Sr. Superintendent Wilson Lopez led a send-off ceremony on Wednesday (Oct. 31) at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) for 161 personnel deployed to  maintain peace and order in towns and cities in connection with the observance of Undas in the province.

Police Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, Police Community Relations Branch Chief said the 161 were deployed to cemeteries, bus terminals and main highways for traffic management to secure the public.

This was simultaneous with the send-off ceremony at the PNP Regional Office 1, led by P/Chief Supt. Romulo E Sapitula, PRO1 regional director, for 700 personnel to the different police stations in the region to augment personnel for traffic management, crowd control and security maintenance in all cemeteries regionwide.

The send-off ceremonies underscored the operational readiness of the police for the observance of this year’s All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day throughout the region.

Sapitula stressed discipline and observance of proper decorum in their performance of duties as he reminded them to be friendly in dealing with the public and reiterated the “dos and don’ts” guidelines.

“In order to achieve a peaceful customary celebration of Undas, we should strengthen our security measures specially that criminals are expected to take advantage of the opportunity of committing crimes in crowded areas,’’ Sapitula said. (Leonardo Micua/Nora Dominguez)
