Dagupan City turns over new fire truck to BFP

The Dagupan City government turned over a new fire and rescue truck with a water capacity of 2,000 liters to the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), significantly boosting the latter’s firefighting capability.
Turned over by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez to Fire Chief Inspector Georgian Pascua on November 5 was a penetrator truck, of a Euro 4 international standard, designed to penetrate narrow streets and areas which could not be reached by ordinary fire trucks.
Pascua said this is very important because penetrator trucks “serve as first responders for all types of fire emergencies and incidents”.
He added that penetrator trucks are specifically designed for congested urban areas like the city of Dagupan.
The new fire truck is the first penetrator truck in the BFP’s line of firefighting equipment. It is the second of its kind in the city after the penetrator truck of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) which was acquired in March this year. The CDRRMO has also a tanker and a rescue truck, in addition to the penetrator truck.
This brought the number of operating fire trucks in Dagupan to 14, which include five from the BFP, three from the city government, four from Panda Fire Fighting Brigade and one each from the Star Plaza and CSI-USATV.
Mayor Fernandez said the significant increase of responder vehicles will help safeguard both Dagupeños and their properties as she assured that the city government will continuously invest in the improvement of emergency services in the city.
FCI Pascua expressed his gratitude to Mayor Fernandez for her continuous support in disaster preparedness operations.
“This is the first time we’ve felt such kind of support. We’re really thankful for Mayor Fernandez. She understands the needs of the people,” said Pascua.
The city government intends to add two more fire trucks in the city to further intensify quick response operations in fire-related emergencies. (Verdelle De Vera/CIO)
