160 violators arrested

LINGAYEN–In just 12 hours from Nov. 20 to Nov. 21  the police in Pangasinan simultaneously apprehended and fined 89 motorcycle riders without crash helmets, 24 other motorcycle owners and/or riders whose units were found attached with sound-producing modified mufflers, and 34 other persons caught on the spot smoking cigarettes in public.

This was gleaned from the situation report of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office covering the period from 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 20 to 6:00 a.m. on Nov. 21.

Those without  crash helmets were slapped with violation of Republic Act 2009. They were from Calasiao, 20; Basista, 14; Sta. Barbara, 12; Bayambang, 9; Bugallon and Rosales, eight each; Mangaldan, 5; Labrador, 4; Binalonan.3; and Mapandan. Dagupan and Agno, one each.

Motorcycle owners and riders with attached modified mufflers in their units in violation to Republic Act No. 4136 were from San Fabian, Balungao, Pozorrubio, Basista, Mangaldan, Binalonan, Bayambang and Villasis.

On the other hand, 34 other persons were apprehended by the police on the same day while smoking cigarettes in public, which is prohibited under Executive Order No. 26 of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Apprehended were from Malasiqui (9), Bayambang (5), Rosales(4) and Mangaldan (4), Sison  (3) and Pozorrubio (3), San Fabian (2) and Bugallon (2) and Binmaley (1), Umingan (1), Bolinao (1) and Urdaneta City (1).

Two persons were apprehended for not wearing the mandatory seat belt and another for driving without license. (Leonardo Micua)
