LNU holds 4th ICT Congress/Seminar

SOME 2,000 students attended the 4th ICT Congress/Seminar organized by the College of Information and Computing Studies (CICS) of Lyceum Northwestern University that sought to create further awareness towards advancement in information and communication technologies.

Held on Oct. 22 at the Salvador T. Duque Fieldhouse of LNU on the theme: “Improving Awareness of Millennials Modern Technology”, the event discussed three trending sub-topics conceptualized by the CICS committee: Basic Computer Troubleshooting by Janu V. Peralta; Social Media Assault by Francis Fernandez, Chief Executive Officer of the Metro Dagupan Information and Communication Technology Community; and Information Security by Michael O. Velasquez an IT (Information Technology) Specialist.

The LNU fourth year students spearheaded the event as part of their Fieldtrip/Seminar course prepared by Engr. Baby Hideliza F. Castillo, dean of the College of Information Communication Studies; and Prof. Mark Joseph N. Garcia  Fieldtrip/Seminar coordinator.

Every year, the CICS Department conducts such seminar dealing on IT and Communication Studies.

Discussion threads that everyone can relate to started in 2015 as an option for field trips.

The annual seminar is open to all LNU students regardless of their courses, learning areas, and year/grade.

Mirriam Retsch, LNU-ICT Governor and Ali Suleiman T. Al-Esry, hosts of the seminar, said creating additional social awareness and at the same time improve the knowledge of participants in contemporary technologies. (Camilla Fernandez/OJT)
