ALCALA—The father of the incumbent mayor of Alcala, a barangay kagawad, was shot and killed by unidentified armed motorcycle-riding men in tandem in the early morning of September 22 in Barangay Laoac.

Kagawad Mario Callejo, 60 also a businessman and a resident of Barangay Gualsic, was on board his Ford Ranger pick up along the Laoac-Gualsic road when he was reportedly followed and fired upon by the suspects.

The suspects immediately fled after Callejo was shot on different parts of his body.

He was rushed to the Nuestro Senior Sto. Nino Hospital in Bayambang by his son, Mayor Jojo B. Callejo and Brgy Captain Jomar B. Callejo where he was pronounced dead on arrival by his attending physician.

The Alcala Police Station conducted a dragnet operation but the suspects already made good their escape.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO ) processed the crime scene and recovered three  fired cartridges of Cal. 45. Motive of the incident is still unknown at presstime.

In San Manuel town, Mario Asumio, 64, a doctor, was about to board his car when unidentified suspects riding two motorcycles without plate numbers, shot him with a cal.45 handgun.

The victim was rushed to the Sacred Heart Hospital in Urdaneta City where he was declared dead on arrival.
