Binmaley trader arrested for guns, grenade

BINMALEY–A businessman in Barangay Poblacion was arrested when lawmen raided his house past 12 midnight of Oct. 17 where four hand guns, assorted bullets and a rifle grenade were found.

Lawmen served search warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Mervin Samadan of Branch 70 in Burgos town for violation of R.A. 10591 and R.A. 9165 at the residence of Wilson Caguioa Felix, 41.

The raid was an operation for Oplan Paglalansag Omega and Oplan Salikop, both flagship projects of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Confiscated by the raiders were one defaced Norinco Cal. 45 pistol, one Smith and Wesson Caliber 38 revolver, one Cal. 22 magnum revolver and one Armscor Cal. 9mm. pistol without serial number.

Also seized were 10 live ammunition for Cal. 45 pistol, four bullets for Cal. 38 revolver and Cal. 5.56 rifle, two magazines for Cal. 45 pistol, one magazine for Cal. 9 mm pistol and one rifle grenade.

P/Sr. Superintendent Herminio SD. Tadeo Jr., officer-in-charge at Police Regional Office 1,  said the intensified operations seek to continuously curb loose firearms which are often used by criminal gangs and private armed groups.

It is also in preparation for the 2019 elections in order to assure peaceful and credible elections, he said. (Leonardo Micua)
