TechVoc grads get most jobs at TESDA job fair

SOME 1,580 applicants landed jobs during the nationwide job fair into celebration of TESDA’s 24th year anniversary and 1st year of National TechVoc Day last August 25 held at the CSI Stadia in Dagupan City.

Joel Pilotin, Jr., TESDA provincial director said more than 3,500 jobs were made available by 63 local and foreign labor agencies who participated in the one-stop- shop “World Café of Opportunities” organized by TESDA with the participation of the Pangasinan Alliance for Private Technical and Vocational Schools (PATV’s).

Pilotin said the activity, a collaboration among OWWA, DFA, DTI, DOLE, PESO Dagupan and PESO Pangasinan, processed also job applicants in Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union.

Aside from job placement, the event provided skills training that showcased technotainment skills .i.e., skill as barista, fruitcake decor, catering, hair cutting, massage, pedicure and manicure for TechVoc graduates.

TESDA accepted scholars for TechVoc skills training in construction field.

Andrei Abalos, PATV president, said he was happy to note that most who landed jobs were graduates of TechVoc Schools in Pangasinan and encouraged local students to apply for scholarship for free training and skills training funded by the R.A. 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act. that provides free tuition and other fees to students in state universities and colleges and state run technical vocational schools accredited by TESDA.
