Regional PNP deploys teams for rescue, clearing operations

THE Police Regional Office has deployed 185 of its personnel to the frontline as rescue teams to help any agency in rescue operations during and after the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong expected over the weekend.

Police Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, regional director, said aside from the 185 personnel from the regional headquarters, another 35 personnel from the Regional Support Unit will be deployed to Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte to help in clearing operations of roads that will be blocked or damaged by Typhoon Ompong.

The PNP rescue team will be led by eight supervisors with nineteen personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Batallion.

Meanwhile, Pangasinan Police also went on high alert in preparedness ready to help impose precautionary measure to secure lives and properties.

Sapitula, however, advised all personnel deployed to calamity distressed area to first secure their families before they report for duty.  (Nora Domimguez)
