3 VIOLENT CRIMES ALARM RESIDENTS

NOTHING to be alarmed. These are isolated cases.

This was the assurance of P/Superintendent Jandale Sulit, Dagupan City police chief, amid concerns that peace and order situation is deteriorating after a series of violent crimes took place in the city.

Netizens expressed concern over the shooting incident in Barangay Tapuac that killed two personalities and one injured, a stabbing to death of a college student inside a restaurant at Arellano Street and a rape-slay of victim who was found floating half naked in Pantal River.

Sulit said the violent incidents were isolated and at the same time appealed to those who witnessed the shooting incident in Tapuac that involved a university professor, Oscar Fernandez and a businessman, Johnny Baniqued to help the police identify the gunman.

He also asked the help of the netizens to avoid posting unverified information in social media which can complicate the investigation of the cases.

The still unidentified gunman in the shooting in front of a restaurant in Tapuac District, used a cal, 45 handgun.

Few days after the shooting incident in Tapuac, four suspects stabbed a twenty-one-year-old student of PAMMA, identified as Jerick Fontanilla, from Barangay Cayungnan, Agno, inside a restaurant in Arellano Street in Barangay Pantal.

Sulit said, Fontanilla together with two friends were eating in the restaurant when four men who were on the other table were irritated by the victim’s group antics.

Fontanilla reportedly apologized after his group was confronted but the suspects got irritated more and stabbed the victim on the chest and died.

One of the suspects was identified as Victoriano Lim, 38, a tricycle driver and resident of PNR site who remains at large together with his three companions.

And recently, Reisha Vidal, 21 years old, a promodizer at CSI Mall and resident of Sitio Guibang, Barangay Pantal, Dagupan City was found floating half-naked in Pantal River.

Gemma Vidal, victim’s mother said, her daughter failed to come home the night after her duty and thought Reisha slept with her friend.

Sulit said in the follow up investigation of the Dagupan City Police, one witness came out and identified the four suspects who were responsible for killing and molested the victim.

Initial medical examination showed the victim suffered blows on her face and at the back of her head.

A case of rape with homicide was filed against the four suspects: Rhadu Ubando Eugenio aka Adi, 36; Jonathan Español de Vera aka Maning, 29; Alfredo Ubando, 28 and Flor Ubando Moulic Jr., all construction workers and neighbors of the victim.

Sulit said the case of Reisha against the four suspect is air tight. He said, the cooperation of witnesses and the community is a great help in resolving crimes. (Nora Dominguez)
