The 2018 DCAA Division Meet is held annually in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), Dagupan City Sports Commission (DCSC) and the city government, to promote sports and sportsmanship among the youth.

DCSC Vice Chairman Finnela T. Sim said the event is part of their grassroots program of the city government to introduce sports to younger Dagupenos and to discover talents to represent the city in the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) meets.

Dagupan is the defending champion in the R1AA meet.

In her message, Mayor Belen T. Fernandez reiterated the city government’s full support for the development of the city’s youth.

“Our city continues to invest in sports and education. We have the highest budget in education in our city’s history. This is because we want our children to benefit from all of the programs being made by the city government and DepEd for them,” she said

Aside from basketball and volleyball, the division will stage host 19 other sports events such as arnis, baseball, swimming and many others in the coming months (CIO/VDV)
