LINGAYEN—The provincial board welcomed as its member the new president of the provincial federation of Liga ng Barangay who offered the exuberance of youth, his eagerness to learn and his dedication to serve.

Board Member Art Bryan Celeste from Alaminos City, in his response said “I am grateful for the trust and confidence reposed by my peers, yet wary of the responsibilities that have been bestowed by reason of this honored position”.

He thanked his predecessor, Jeanne Jinky Zaplan, for her dedicated service. Celeste defeated Zaplan in an election for the provincial federation of Liga ng Barangay on July 30.

The 22-year old Celeste, who graduated from Dela Salle University with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship degree, stressed the importance of public service, “where the chance to make a difference in people’s lives and improve the world is always a possibility”.

Celeste pointed out that public servants like him are given the opportunity not ordinarily accorded to all. “Ours is the privilege to render public service based on sound moral foundations, and an uncompromising duty to improve the lives of our constituents,” he said.

He said it recently dawned on him that he now has the distinct opportunity to positively affect the lives and circumstances of his province mates.

As he asked his colleagues in the provincial board for their mentorship and guidance, he said he is offering “the exuberance of youth, my eagerness to learn, my dedication to serve, my full and undivided attention, and lastly, the insights of a true millennial!,” he said. (Philstar Wire Service)
