LINGAYEN — The Mangatarem Persons With Disability (PWD) Group won the 2018 provincial search for the most empowered PWD organization.

Runners-up were San Fabian PWD Consumers Cooperative and Association of PWDs of Urdaneta City.

Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, on behalf of Governor Amado I. Espino, III, assisted by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Emilio Samson, presented the award during the ceremony held on August 13 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center, which highlighted the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week provincial celebration.

Other active PWD organizations in the province are based in Anda, Asingan, Malasiqui, Bolinao, Pozorrubio, Rosales, Alcala, Alaminos City, Bugallon, and San Quintin.

In acknowledging their roles in shaping the community, Camba took pride of the Pangasinan PWD’s feat during the 2018 National Paralympic Games, bagging most gold medals, besting hundreds of participating contingents.

For their impressive performance in sporting events, the Pangasinan PWDs received cash incentives from the provincial government.

With the support of the provincial government, Camba said the Pangasinan PWD federation has become more active and motivated in engaging with development programs. (PIO/MGNO)
