LINGAYEN– The provincial government has donated P1.5 million fund support to the Pangasinan Integrated Muslim Assembly, Inc. for the construction of a public Muslim cemetery.

At the ceremonial turnover was Gov. Amado Espino III and department heads led by Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, at the Urduja House on August 1.

Tanggapin niyo po itong munting suporta mula sa provincial government,” Espino said as he underscored the  partnership of the provincial government with Muslim communities.

Espino had pledged to sustain social amenities program like the financial assistance to build a Muslim burial ground that supports the mandate of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Act of 2009.

Guialoson K. Macmod, who led the Muslim community, thanked the provincial government for the support it has been giving the association since the stint of former governor and now fifth district representative Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr.

“Nagpapasalamat kami kay Congressman dahil n’ung siya pa ay governor ay pinangako na niya ito at tinupad naman ni Gov. Pogi,” said Macmod.

Macmod said the new project will address the lack of burial grounds for Muslims in the province.

The burial ground will be situated in a 2.5-hectare lot in Barangay Aurollo II in Balungao.  (PIO/ SMDG)
