Voter’s registration for 2019 election start

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office recorded only 4,928 new registrants out of the 20,000 targeted new voters in Pangasinan for the May 13, 2019 mid-term elections.

The nationwide registration started on July 2.

Provincial Election Supervisor of Pangasinan Marino Salas said the new round of voter registration will end on September 29, 2018.

The 4,928 registration included new registration, transfer/transfer with reactivation, reactivation, change/correction of entry, inclusion/reinstatement of records in the list of voters.

Those who will be turning 18 on or before the May 13, 2019 elections will be allowed to register as new voters.

Transfer of registrations that were not allowed for the barangay elections will be allowed for the 2019 elections.  Registrants must bring their birth/baptismal certificate or valid IDs to show their identity, he said.

Comelec offices in each town/city in Pangasinan are open from Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including holidays, to accommodate new registrants.

Salas said satellite or off-site registrations in all barangays will again be conducted.

During the off-site registration, they will also hold seminars like gender and development, women in elections, among others, Salas said.

Meanwhile, the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC) for the May 13, 2019 elections is from October 1 to 5, 2018 for those aspiring to be elected as a municipal councilor, vice mayor, mayor, congressman, board member, vice governor and governor. (Eva Visperas)
