Three couples get married on a flooded day

TYPHOON, monsoon rains and floodwaters rushing through the city streets were not enough to stop the resolve of three couples in Dagupan City to get married on July 23.

The three couples, namely, Arnie Cabacungan and Rica Joy Punzalan of Barangay Caranglaan; Kristiansen Malaluan and Rosalie Elanggos of Barangay Bonuan Sabangan; and Jay Maneclang of Poblacion Oeste and Joan Romero of Pogo Grande exchanged “I dos” on July 23 in a civil wedding officiated by Mayor Belen T. Fernandez at the Dagupan City Museum.

Mayor Fernandez later posted pictures of the ceremony in her Facebook account and aptly titled the affair as “Tuloy ang kasal

“Sobrang love,” the mayor said in her private message to this reporter.

The pictures showed two brides wearing simple white dresses while one had her long wedding gown. They wore either a wedge or high-heeled shoes.

Two grooms wore white polo barong while the other one was in powder blue long sleeves.

Some of their well-wishers who attended the wedding rites were in their short pants and rubber sandals to enable them to walk through the flood. (Eva Visperas)
