HERE’S good news to out-of-school youths (OFYs) and unemployed college graduates in Dagupan City aged 18 years old and up.

Technical vocational schools in Dagupan are offering scholarships to qualified youth who want to acquire skills that could give them a chance to get employment locally and overseas.

Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo said the Association of Technical and Vocational Schools in Dagupan has linked with the city government for the screening of OFYs who can qualify for the scholarship grants approved by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA),

In the resolution, approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday, Tamayo said the Tech-Voc scholarships program does not require a financial counterpart from the city government and only requires the latter provide a venue for interviewing of applicants.

The resolution authorized Mayor Belen Fernandez to sign the memorandum of agreement with the Tech-Voc Association for the implementation of the scholarship program.

Tamayo said the program will help reduce the growing unemployment in the city. (Leonardo Micua)
