Illegal fisher nabbed, fined
SUAL–A fisherman was arrested for illegal fishing during a seaborne patrol operation by the Sual Police and the town’s Bantay Dagat on July 16.
The suspect, Rocky Bolito y Gallano, 30 years old, of Barangay Lucente 1st in Bolinao, who was caught in the act of illegally fishing with the use of a compressor.
Found in his custody were one styrofoam cooler containing assorted fish valued at P100, one compressor; one compressor tank; a hose measuring more or less 20 meters and the suspect’s commercial fishing boat.
He was charged with violation of Sual Fishery Ordinance No.005-2014 in relation to Republic Act No. 8550 or the National Fisheries Law. He was only fined P4,500. since it was only his first offense.
The confiscated equipment used in illegal fishing are in the custody of the Municipal Agriculture Office. (Leonardo Micua)
