Five die during massive floods

LINGAYEN–Five persons died as a result of the flood in separate places in Pangasinan, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said.

Ailene Isidro Sison, 20, who was first reported missing while crossing a swollen creek in Barangay Bedania, Mangatarem on the night of July 20. However, her body was found in the afternoon of the next day.

Two children died separately in Malasiqui town on July 25. They were Jericho Arzadon, 7, of Barangay Madampay, who fell into a hole and drowned at 3:20 p.m., and Marian Salazar, 10, of Barangay Bugtong, who was bathing under the rain when she accidentally slipped from a fish pond dike and drowned.

Darius Carcamo, 20, of Barangay Poponto, Bautista, was bitten by a snake. He was rushed by relatives to the Bayambang District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

A woman was electrocuted in Dagupan City when she touched a grounded object at the height of the flood.

Meanwhile, Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, confirmed that the five fishermen from Barangay Concordia, Bolinao who were declared missing when they did not return from a fishing expedition in the South China Sea were found alive and well in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur. (Leonardo Micua)
