Miss Urdaneta City is Limgas na Pangasinan

LINGAYEN—A 21-year-old licensed fisheries technologist from Caboloan, Urdaneta City, made her way to the Limgas na Pangasinan 2018 crown.

Jemimah Ann Tungbaban Torrado bested 22 other Limgas hopefuls at the April 30 pageant and coronation night held at the Sison Auditorium.

Torrado, a bachelor of science in fisheries graduate of Central Luzon State University who currently works at Philippine Crop Insurance Corp., said she will share her expertise to help contribute in the various environmental conservation and preservation programs of the provincial government.

“As a fisheries technologist, I love the environment. My advocacy is to protect the environment. I will share my knowledge and my ability to further enhance our aquaculture industry, and to protect our coastal resources,” Torrado said when asked during an interview how she would maximize her advocacy during her Limgas reign.

She was crowned in a ceremony led by Gov. Amado Espino III and Pangasinan First lady Karina K. Espino, assisted by Landbank of the Philippines Lingayen Branch Manager Kathleen Fernandez and Limgas na Pangasinan 2017 Anie Uson.

As Limgas winner, Torrado received ₱150,000 cash prize, plus an entitlement to ₱10,000 monthly allowance for a year.

Other winners were 18-year-old Samantha Mae Fernandez of Bugallon who won the Limgas na Turismo title, and 19 year-old Joy May Anne Barcoma of Villasis who was named Limgas na Kalikasan.

Runners-up were Rose Lyn Reyes of Manaoag and Yna Bacalanmo of San Manuel.

Three others in top eight were: Marikit Aquino Manaois (Sison), Nicole Sarah Lastimosa (Lingayen), and Regine Mae Angel Dumbrique (San Carlos City).

Winners of minor and special awards include: Reyes of Manaoag (best in festival costume, best in swimwear, and best in evening gown); Dumbrique of San Carlos City (Miss Photogenic), Manaois of Sison (best in talent), Barcoma of Villasis (Darling of the Press) Marianne Bergantinos Royulada of Rosales (Miss Congeniality), Elisabeth Jane Henanger of Alaminos City (texters’ choice, and peoples’ choice awards), and Bacalanmo of San Manuel (best promotional video), with San Manuel LGU (best promotional video – LGU).

Best evening gown designer was Rodel Salvador.
