Dagupan’s PESO is best in Region 1

THE city’s Public Employment and Services Office was cited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the region as the Best Performing PESO under the city category.

The recognition was received by PESO Manager Jocelyn Siapno during the Regional PESO Congress 2018 held at Savannah Hotel Resort in Angeles City, Pampanga on February 27.

The city was cited for its successful implementation of the Special Program for the Employment of Students.

At least 16 of these students are still working in the city government and are detailed in different departments and offices.

The PESO office was also commended for its performance in the implementation of Job Start Philippines 2017.

In 2017, Dagupan PESO conducted 4,815 recruitment activities and succeeded in having some 3,248 jobseekers employed based on DOLE’s data.

For jobs solicited, the office was able to provide a total of 50, 996 with 20,652 on conducting job fairs; 25,641 on special recruitment activity and 4,703 on local recruitment activity.

Among the top 10 jobs solicited were sales representative, merchandiser, brand ambassador, mobile promoters, service crew, bundlers, ham seller bagger, cashier and call center agents.

Siapno disclosed 168 who have finished the life skills training program under the Jobstart Program.

Aside from providing an avenue for jobseekers to find employment, the office also a resolved and gave assistance to OFWs in distress abroad.

From 2014 to February 19, 2018 the office was able to resolve 111 cases, 57 of which led to repatriation of workers and 54 were either assisted to look for another employer, among others.
