MANGALDAN – Several streets in the town will undergo rehabilitation starting March this year, according to a recent advisory issued by the municipal government.

Scheduled for widening and rehabilitation are V. Magno St., P. De Guzman St., G. Visperas St., and the Bari diversion road, which is connected to the Pangasinan-La Union Inter Provincial Road.

The rehabilitation projects are included in the DTI-DPWH Convergence Program: Road Connectivity for Industry and Trade Development Roads Leveraging Linkages for Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) program.

The advisory called on owners of sari-sari stores, carenderias, driveways, house gates, gardens and other structures that encroach on parts of the streets to remove these before the construction starts.

The widening road projects is expected to help improve flow of traffic in the town, especially on Rizal Avenue.

Meanwhile, misting operations are ongoing in different barangays and streets to eliminate dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Zita Lapore, municipal sanitation inspector, said misting operations started January 22 in the Poblacion.

The misting operation is in support of the the 4S Laban sa Dengue of the Department of Health (DOH) which encourages residents to search and destroy; to undertake self-protection measures; to seek early consultation; and to say no to indiscriminate fogging. (Jaivan Cariño, CdG)
