Two cops hurt in road mishap

TWO policemen were confined at Nazareth Hospital here after the Mahindra mobile patrol car they rode in was bumped by an Isuzu Elf truck on Dec. 26 along Aquino St., Poblacion in Mangaldan.

SPO4 Angelito Jimenez and PO1 Mary Ann Lomibao were visited by Police Regional Director, Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula at the hospital yesterday and extended cash assistance to them.

The mobile patrol car of Mangaldan Police Station was driven by PO3 Pastoral with four policemen and two policewomen on board who were dispatched to respond to a violence against women and children incident.

On their way to the area, a westbound Isuzu Elf truck driven by Rodrigo Maure of Barangay Poblacion Norte, Sison, hit the police car.

A case for reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries and damage to property was filed at the Prosecutor’s Office.

Sapitula said he visited the injured policemen as a “fatherly gesture” even as he lauded them for doing their job by responding to a call of duty.

“Para lumakas ang loob nila at alam nilang hindi natin sila pinababayaan,” Sapitual said.  (Eva Visperas)
