P/SUPERINTENDENT Jandale Sulit, chief of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management of the Eastern Police District in Manila, is the new chief of police officer-in-charge in Dagupan City.

Sulit was named the new chief of police on January 4 and assumed his new post during the turnover ceremony with his predecessor P/Superintendent Franklin Ortiz at the Dagupan City Police Station.

Ortiz served as the city’s police chief for nine months.

According to P/Chief Inspector Norman Florentino, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO), Ortiz is temporarily assigned at the PPPO in Lingayen.

Career advancement was hinted by Florentino as the reason for the relief of Ortiz.

During the turnover, the 45-year-old Sulit vowed to continue the best practices of the Dagupan Police, particularly in the campaign against illegal drugs started by Ortiz’s predecessors in 2016.

In his speech during the assumption of duty at the change of command last January 4, Sulit reiterated his order for higher visibility of police in the city’s streets to secure the public.

He also appealed for the support of the city and barangay officials, and the more than 100 personnel of Dagupan PNP to continue to help of the city police to secure the community.

He said without their support, nothing can be accomplished and stressed that higher police visibility will deter crimes.

“Kailangan ang kapulisan ay nakikita visible 24 hours, ako rin, makikita nyo ako dyan, inumpisahan ko na kagabi bago ako mag-assume,” Sulit said.

He said he will also prioritize operations to stop robbery and theft cases in the city. (Leonardo Micua/Nora Dominguez)
