UL Tigers drub AIMS Blue Sharks, 89-64

THE UL Tigers clobbered the Asian Institute of Maritime Studies Blue Sharks 89-64
in the main game of the opening of the 25th season of the National Capital Region Athletic Association on December 5, 2017 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

The UL Tigers outrebounded the AIMS Blue Sharks 56-43. Bench scoring was a key factor as the Tigers’ bench outscored the Sharks 47-17.

Tigers’ Harvey Kyne Campo top-scored with 14 points followed by John Ericson Canlas and Robert Caasi, Jr. with 13 and 12 points respectively. Mario Angelito Torio joined the scoring onslaught with 11 points. Jerwin Sapigao was the game’s king of the boards with 11 caroms.

After their impressive debut, the Golden Tigers are gearing to show Metro Manila squads their mettle in scoring.

UL’s next game will be against TIP Engineers on January 9, 2018 at the TIP Quezon City Gymnasium.

UL’s coaching staff is headed Coach Byron Jake Vidal, assistants Jeffrey Gatchalian, Rhoger Dela Cruz and Trainer Laurence Waytan.

The 25th season of the National Capital Region Athletic Association Senior Basketball is participated by a record field of 16 schools. (Simon Vistro)
