Dagupeño wins “Ako’y Pilipino” contest

THE Inner Wheel Club of the Philippines District 379 recently concluded the ‘Ako’y Pilipino’ talent competition in Dagupan City that pitted talents in writing and oratory  on three topics – illegal drugs, the  millennial phenomenon and cyber bullying in schools.

The district’s winners, Christopher C. Tutor (Judge Jose de Venecia Technical Vocational Secondary School, Dagupan City) first place, Erika May A. Mundina (La Union National High School), 2nd place and, Brisha Eryka Faye F. Recto (Mangatarem National High School) were chosen from a field of six from La Union and Pangasinan.

District Chairman Precy V. Nava said this year’s panel of judges was composed of newsman Jun Velasco, chairman; Ellen Poyaoan, president/directress, Butterfly School of San Carlos City; and. Jenny Agbuya Fabia of the Mangaldan NHS, members.

Nava said, the contest was intended to awaken love of country among the young through intellectual competitions.

The Inner Wheel Club hosted the competition Downtown Dagupan.

District Club members who managed the event with Nava were Susan Maramba- district treasurer; emcee Vilma Q. Velasco, district secretary.
