Manaoag, Natividad, Calasiao lead early winners

LINGAYEN — Teams Binmaley, Manaoag, Natividad, Lingayen, Sual, Calasiao, Tayug, and Pozorrubio won their respective first matches in the 2nd Governor’s Cup Pangasinan Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament on November 18 and 19 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center gymnasium.

Defending champion Binmaley pulled a 30-point lead over Bayambang, 98-68, heavily relying on the Melendez brothers (Roxar and Mark).

Manaoag team, last year’s 1st runner-up, almost lost to Sto. Tomas after ending in a deadlock, 89-89. In the last quarter, it regained its momentum after Sto. Tomas’ star player Garnet Asuncion committed his fifth foul eventually win in overtime, 107-93.

With a home-court advantage, Team Lingayen led by star cager Marven Jophet Mamaril trounced Alaminos City, 96-75.

On November 19, between Team Calasiao, led by  high-scoring Reynald Ballesteros, rejectd  Malasiqui, 107-93.
