75 teams join Bolinao football tourney

LINGAYEN– The aim to make Pangasinan as a sports hub gained more traction after the successful holding of the 2nd Bolinao Super 7 Cup 7-aside Football Tournament last November 4.

Pangasinan Sports Development and Management Council (PSDMC) Executive Officer Modesto Operania echoed the vision during the closing ceremony of the tournament organized by the Pangasinan United Football Club Inc. held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center Football Field in Lingayen.

Over a thousand participants comprising 75 football teams participated in the four-category tournament dubbed as the biggest 7-aside football tournament held in Pangasinan.

Winners of the friendly tournament received trophies and tokens of appreciation.

Winners were: (Under 13 ) Champion: Tarlaqueno Football Club, 1st Runner Up: Tuguegarao Football Club, 2nd Runner Up: Sual Football Club; (Under 17) Champion: Tarlaqueno Football Club, 1st Runner Up: CG Football Club, 2nd Runner Up: Candon City Football Club.

(Women’s Open) Champion: Mighty Valorious Women (Olongapo), 1st Runner Up: CG Football Club, 2nd Runner Up: Pozorrubio United Football Association; (Men’s Open) Champion: Gordon College, 1st Runner Up: PSU Football Club, 2nd Runner Up: Warriors Football Club.

Representing Governor Amado I. Espino, III, PSDMC Executive Officer Operania said the provincial government is committed in supporting sports events like the 2nd Bolinao Super 7 Cup 7-aside Football Tournament.

According to Philippine Football Federation Grassroots Head Officer Coach Aquilino Pastoral III, this year’s number of participants shows the growing popularity of grassroots football in the province.

Operania said that he will endorse the holding of more football games to Espino.

JCI Lingayen Bagoong President Reginald Agsalon, said his organization is looking forward to more joint sponsorship programs with the provincial government to showcase football. (PIO/KMJR)
