6 dead, 4 hurt in road mishaps

LINGAYEN—Six men died while four others were injured in separate road accidents in Barangay Matalava East this town and in Dagupan City dawn of Nov. 17 (Friday).

Report from P/Supt. Fidel Junio, Lingayen police chief, identified the fatalities as identified as Michael Angelo Manaoat, Kevin De Guzman and two others who are yet to be identified as of press time.

Confined at Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City are Ariel Diaz, Darwin Balo-Balo and two still unidentified victims, all residents of Sitio Socony, Barangay Salasa, Bugallon, Pangasinan.

P/Chief Inspector Wilmer Pagaduan, Lingayen deputy police chief, said the victims who are in their 20s, had just attended a baptismal party in Bugallon town and went to Dagupan City for another round of drinks.

On their way home, their speeding Honda City vehicle driven by Manaoat hit a concrete post on the right side of the road in west direction then turned turtle and occupied the other side of the road hitting another concrete post.

The victims were thrown out of their vehicle due to strong impact.

Manaoat, De Guzman and the two unidentified victims were pronounced dead on arrival by their attending physician when elements of Municipal and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils brought them to Lingayen District Hospital.

The four injured victims were transferred to R1MC for further treatment.

Meanwhile, two persons died when the motorcycle spun out of control while negotiating a sharp curve in front of Alimax Subdivision along the old De Venecia Road, Barangay Lucao here.

Report from Supt. Franklin Ortiz, Dagupan City police chief, said the victims were Neco Basa, 27, motorcycle driver and his back rider, Edward Perez, of legal age, both residents of Barangay Basing, Binmaley.

The two were not wearing helmets. They were rushed by elements of City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council elements to R1MC but were pronounced dead on arrival. (Eva Visperas)
