Espino sends off 222 athletes

LINGAYENGov. “Pogi” I. Espino III met and sent off the members of the Pangasinan Team bound for Vigan City for the weeklong Batang Pinoy 2017 Luzon Qualifying Leg to be held from October 21 to 27.

During the simple send-off program on October 19 at the NRSCC restaurant, the governor assured the young athletes that the provincial government will continue to provide the best support for Pangasinan athletes through an innovative sports program that could help hone their athletic prowess.

Espino stressed to the young athletes that their training will always include teaching the true value of “discipline, respect, sportsmanship.”

He urged the athletes to represent their family, their town or city and the province with honor and pride in the competitions even as he expressed gladness to see grassroots athletes excel in their chosen fields.

He expressed the hope that major educational institutions will eventually recruit them to become varsity scholars.

Hinting on the Sports Academy which will soon be established. Espino said athletes can look forward to a training that will help build and form the character of athletes.
