THE JobStart Training Program for Out-of-School Youth (OSYs) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the Dagupan City government is now going on in earnest.

DOLE District Officer Engracio Bailon told the KBP Forum on Thursday, the JobStart program is being implemented in Dagupan by the city’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by Jocelyn Siapno.

The program aims to give skills training and provide good work attitude to out-of-school youths who after completion of their training will be recommended to undergo further On-the-Job Training (OJT) with various employers.

Bailon said any out-of-school youth who wants to acquire skills, training on different lines of specialties and to have good work attitude have to register with Dagupan PESO.

Qualified to undergo skills training are high school graduates and if they complete their training, they will be recommended to undergo on-the job-training with various employers.

Under the JobStart program, employers are taken in as partners, he said.

The employers had their own technical workshop where they identified the workers’ skills they need and can accommodate.

He said after the technical training of the out-of-school youth, they will be placed on internship with their prospective employers, for which they will be given an allowance of P200 per day.

Their daily allowance is sourced from the Asian Development Bank, the Canadian government and the Philippine government, he said. (Leonardo Micua)
