THE Division Athletic Meet of DepEd Pangasinan 1 reeled off at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) gym on September 27.

With the theme “Changing Lives through Camaraderie and Sportsmanship”, Gov. Amado Espino III welcomed the hundreds of athletes from public and private schools in 21 towns under the jurisdiction of DepEd Division 1.

“Sports, just like life, must always bring out the best in you even in times of defeat.” Espino told the delegations.

Gagawin po naming lahat para mailatag ang mga magandang kinabukasan para sa inyong lahat at hindi naman po kaila ang mga nangyari na sa probinsya nating Pangasinan at mga ginagawa pa natin na magagandang programang hindi lang para sa iba’t ibang sector kundi para rin sa inyong mga kabataan,” Espino said as he urged the youth to strive harder in their studies as they do not only carry the name of their town or city, but also the name of Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, Chief of School Governance and Operations Division Dr. Angeline S. Casipit, urged the athletes to “do their best and compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.”

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Teodora V. Nabor commended the sports coordinators, coaches, school heads and other personnel for their commitment and support for the competition.

“Sana maging maayos ang pagdiriwang natin ng Division Meet. Sana iisa ang layunin natin sa pakikipaglalaro at ‘yan ay ang maging isang pinakamagaling na atleta ng Pangasinan,” Nabor said.

MAPEH EPS Bernardo S. De Guzman gave the orientation for the mechanics of the games: basketball, boxing, arnis, swimming, billiards, tennis, baseball, softball, chess, sepak takraw, table tennis athletics, taekwondo, wushu, dance sports and gymnastics. (PIO/SMDG)
