URDANETA CITY-  The 2017 edition of the ‘Million Volunteer Run’ (MVR) scheduled on July 23 was launched by the Philippine Red Cross-Pangasinan Chapter on Wednesday to encourage the public to register and run to help save lives.

The run will start at the CB Mall in Urdaneta City.

A motorcade in the cities of Dagupan and Urdaneta will be held to drumbeat the event.

Fifth District Board Member Rosario Perez-Tababa, the event’s guest of honor, enjoined everyone to support blood donation and the volunteer run.

Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na habang nabubuhay ka ay may nagawa ka kahit sa maliit na paraan para matulungang mabuhay ang iba,” Perez -Tababa told the PRC members during the program.

Chapter Administrator Florame Magalong led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with donors and partners for the activity.

“We are so happy with the overwhelming support of our partners and donors. This is one of the best indicators that what we are doing is for the good of the community,” Magalong told the Philippine Information Agency.

Among the commitments received were from CB Mall that pledged to undertake 90 percent of the costs of MVR, from the University of Pangasinan-Phinma Education group that pledged to provide scholarships to the top 50 finishers of the MVR.

The first MVR was held in Dagupan City and on its second year, Rosales town became an additional venue. Last year the MVR was held in the cities of Urdaneta and Dagupan. (PIA-Pangasinan/ VHS)
