Dengue cases in Pangasinan up by 14%

LINGAYEN—The provincial health office (PHO) already recorded one death out of 469 dengue cases for the period January 1 to March 7 this year, 14% higher from the recorded 405 on the same period last year.

Dr. Anna De Guzman, provincial health officer, said most of the victims are between 10 to 14 year- old age group and at least 253 of the total number are male.

A six year-old girl from Urdaneta City had died.

Thirteen towns and three cities are already in the watch list of the PHO due to high number of dengue cases recorded: Asingan (60), Bayambang (42), San Manuel (32), Lingayen (18), Malasiqui (18), Sta. Maria (18), Calasiao (17), Pozorrubio (17), San Fabian (15), Manaoag (13), Mangaldan (11), Sison (11), San Nicolas (10) and cities of San Carlos (21), Alaminos (13) and Urdaneta (10).

PHO reminded the public to implement the basic guidelines of 4 o’clock habit to avoid further increase in the number of victims. (Hilda Austria)
