Cadet First Class Christine Mae Calima of the Gabay Laya Class 2016 not only accomplished her mission for a military career but fulfilled the dream of his father who had long wanted to graduate from the prestigious military academy himself to pursue a military career but failed.

Christine, eldest child of schoolteachers Edward and Mariel, has been fascinated with the military uniform even when she was young.

She was a third year Accountancy student when she decided to enter the PMA.

Nung unang nakapasok siya, kinabahan kami kasi babae siya until natapos yung reception, incorporation at recognition, okey naman ang flow ng training nya,” said her father Edward in the same interview.

The PMAer was described by her parents as a determined, brilliant and responsible student. Prior to her PMA feat, Christine graduated as Valedictorian at the Bolinao School of Fisheries.

She will receive her academic award on March 13 with 12 more distinctions including being the best in her Air Force class, the report said.

Another Pangasinense, Cadet George Bernard Garcia of Labrador town will graduate as 9th placer. George is actually the third child of Gerardo and Melvina Garcia who entered and graduated from the Philippine Military Academy.

George’s eldest brother, 1st Lt. John Melvin graduated in 2012 and is now with the Philippine Air Force. His other brother, 2nd Lt. Gerson graduated in 2013 and is now with the Philippine Army.

(VHS_PIA-Pangasinan)
