Winners in poster-making contest known

70TH LINGAYEN GULF LANDING

LINGAYEN- – – A grade school boy from San Nicolas’ East Central School and a high school student from Alaminos’ Colegio de San Jose won the poster-making contest held last December 22 in observance of the 70th Lingayen Gulf Landings and 8th Veteran’s Day Celebration on January 9.

Eleven young Pangasinense artists from different schools division in Pangasinan displayed their talents in the drawing competition staged by the provincial government, one of the pre-events in the annual traditional celebration.

Other winners in the elementary division are Luis Ancheta of East Central School in San Nicolas town (champion), Stanley Marquez of Badopa Elementary School in Urdaneta City (2nd place), and Dave Laforteza of Villamil Elementary School in Dagupan City (3rd place).

The contest was participated in by 11 elementary and high school artists who emerged as the most talented during the pre-scheduled elimination rounds that were held December 1 to 19 in their respective schools division.

In the secondary level, the top three winners are Guy Genesis Ubay of Colegio de San Jose in Alaminos City (champion), Clyde Rafael of Tayug National High School (2nd place), and Rolly Oteros of SEPNAS in San Carlos City (3rd place).

Dolly Moya, chairman of the Lingayen Gulf Landings 2015 celebration, said the activity aimed at raising awareness among the youth on the historical significance of the gulf landings during World War II.

Awarding rite is scheduled on January 5 in time with the first regular flag-raising ceremony for 2016 at the Capitol Plaza.
