More OFW groups get start-up funds

LINGAYEN– In observance of the OFW Month, fourteen newly-registered overseas Filipino workers’ (OFW) families association in different towns in Pangasinan received P10,000 start-up fund each from the provincial government.

According to Provincial Employment and Services Office (PESO) chief Alex Ferrer, the startup fund will cover initial expenses for their respective livelihood ventures.

The associations are based in Anda, Bolinao, Burgos, Aguilar, Basista, Labrador, Urbiztondo, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Manaoag, San Fabian, Alcala, Asingan, and Natividad.

Earlier, Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the government assured the OFW families that a better communication link between them and the provincial government is being established. The capitol already provides free use of communication system by the OFW families to connect with their relatives overseas.

Last September, family-associations from Alaminos City, Infanta, Mangaldan, Rosales, San Jacinto, San Quintin, Sual, and Umingan received their start-up funds.
Other associations in the remaining 25 towns will receive their own funds once they complete their registration with the DOLE.- Johanne R. Macob
