Manila cyclists dominate Sta. Barbara race

THREE of the seven visiting Manila cyclists crossed the finish line in a 1-2-3 fashion to dominate the Sta. Barbara Cycling Challenge which started and ended across the town’s new municipal hall last December 8. .

Spearheaded by Excellent Noodles Team, newly recruited member Resty Aragon of Taguig City, 37, came home all alone and clocked the 112-kilometer flat course in two hours, 45 minutes and 10 seconds besting other 53 contestants mostly from Pangasinan to bag the P3,000 top prize with trophy.

Teammates Joel Balucos and Romeo Camingao out-sprinted the main bunch of the second group, 47 seconds adrift, placing second and third worth P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, and also with trophy each.

Rounding up the top 10 were: Roque Bautista of San Fabian, Joel Maramba and Ferdinand Flores of Dagupan City, Alfredo Manuel of Balungao, Benjie Nituan of Binalonan, Ricky Zabala of Laoac and Fernando Flores of Dagupan City.

In the grandmaster class, Peter Camacho of Binmaley topped the event while Tony Agno of Villasis and Danny Ugoy of Natividad finishing second and third respectively.

Diony Aquino of Mangaldan placed fourth and Ronald dela Cruz of Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac was fifth. The five top finishers collected cash prizes and medals apiece. There were 54 starters and 40 finished the race
