BALUNGAO– The site of the longest zipline in the country will have more and improved facilities early next year.

Mayor Philip Peralta announced that the government-owned Balungao Hilltop Adventure, located at the foot of Mount Balungao, will be upgraded with nine rooms to accommodate more people who desire to spend overnight in the area.

The construction of the project, funded by the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), will start in January 2015 and expected to be completed within six months.

The nine rooms will be in addition to the existing two rooms at the Balungao Hilltop Adventure and the improvement of the road network and access of the public leading to the resort will also be made.
“Presently there are no public commuter buses that run to the resort making it difficult for many to reach the site,” the mayor said.

There is also a plan to put up a restaurant in the area with goat meat as its specialty since goat is Balungao’s one town, one product (OTOP).

Every mid-year, around June or July, the municipality celebrates its Kambing (goat) Festival.
Entrance fees at the Balungao Hilltop Adventure is still P50 for adults and P25 for kids.

The country’s longest zipline measuring 1.4 kilometers is the main attraction in the resort.
Other adventure activities include hiking, mountain climbing, all terrain vehicle (ATV) ride, trail walking, trust fall, bungee trampoline, and hot and cold springs swimming pools.(Johanne Macob)
